International Auctioneer Champion Marcela Davila Diez Gutierrez is a Professional Bilingual Auctioneer from Mexico City currently residing in New Mexico. She is a highly respected and influential figure in the auction industry with the ability to connect with diverse audiences. In her position as the Mexico Representative for Everything Gala, Marcela is focused on relationship building for the development and expansion of fundraising auctions in Mexico.
Marcela is sought after by clients seeking auctioneering skills that can communicate effectively both in Spanish and English. Marcela understands cultural considerations and knows when to infuse her chant to be bilingual to connect with her audience. Along with a group of professional ringman and administrative staff from Mexico, Marcela has led Lucerna Auction to become the first company in Mexico specializing in Benefit Auction and Consulting. With her visionary mindset, she uses her public speaking talents to educate both clients and auctioneers. When consulting, she is focused on giving the best possible resources for optimal outcomes. With a keen eye for detail, she analyzes data for realistic goal setting and event management. Marcela designs fundraising auctions to be mission based and focused on bidder motivation. Marcela believes in creating a greater worldwide presence with fundraising auctions. She is committed to building a stronger philanthropic voice for socially urgent causes worldwide. She is dedicated to finding ways to develop strategies that can help make those connections possible.
Marcela began her auctioneer career in 2012 as a ringman at the ADESA Auto Auction, Guadalajara. She later became the head auctioneer of ADESA Mexico, a position she held for 7 years until the closing of the branch in 2023. From the beginning of her career, Marcela has invested in her auction education. In 2017, she attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering. In 2021 she received her certification from the Professional Ringman Institute (PRI). Marcela is a Certified Auction Institute (CAI) Candidate, Class of 2025 as well as a candidate for the National Auction Association Benefit Auction Specialist Certification. Marcela has used her voice and talents to conduct auctions in Mexico and the United States in the specialties of fundraising, auto, heavy equipment and Native American Art. Her career experiences led to the desire to compete in auctioneering competitions. The auction industry recognized Marcela’s talents from the first time she entered the International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) in 2019, when she was awarded the Bob Steffes Rising Star Award. She continued to compete and was awarded first-runner up in the 2021 IAC.
Marcela currently holds the title of 2024 NAA International Auctioneer Champion (IAC), Women’s Division. In her role as an industry leader, Marcela is serving on a global level as an ambassador of the auction profession. As IAC, she is conducting seminars, advocating for the auction industry, promoting the profession in print and media as well as making appearances on behalf of the NAA. She also served on the NAA International Community Committee representing Mexico. Marcela truly believes in giving back to her professional community and strengthening the auction industry. She enjoys supporting and educating other auctioneers to help fundraising organizations across North America.
Marcela makes her home in New Mexico with her husband Kelton Alvord who operates Kelmar Auction, a family-owned Native American Art auction house. They are the proud parents of a young son and enjoy exploring the world with him by going on international family adventures. Marcela’s approach to building relationships revolves around discovering the value of each person who makes a community. Together, though better understanding, we go further. This belief is reflected in one of her favorite quotes from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
